Michael champions his miracle wipes
AN AMPUTEE from Redgrave, who has suffered agony for the past six months, is championing wipes made by a Stanton company.
NewGenn Research has developed a range pf products designed to wipe out the winter vomiting disease (Noro Virus) and prevent the spread of MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus).
In just weeks, NewGenn wipes have helped Michael Waring to recover from a sore on the stump of his leg that had been troubling him since May.
Mr Waring, 63, said: The sore was the size of a 50 pence piece. I was having difficultly in walking because of the stump ulcer and it wasnt getting any better. Now it is the size of a five pence piece, simply though using these wipes. And by the end of the week it will be gone.
I am absolutely thrilled. I can only say. NewGenn are miracle makers - I cant believe the difference it has made.
One of Mr Warings legs was amputated below the knee, following an accident 20 years ago. But like many people with artificial legs, he occasionally suffers from pressure sores.
Normally these can be eased by bed rest but Mr Waring had been unable to do this because he has to look after his wife Tanya. Mrs Waring has had a kidney transplant and is on immune suppressants. But a side affect of this is that she suffers osteoporosis, has to use a wheelchair and is more vulnerable to illnesses.
It was when Mr Waring was admitted to West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury St Edmunds, for a stomach ulcer and hernia, on October 13, that he was introduced to the wipes, which he used on his stump.
Now, Mr Waring will be taking the wipes to his diabetes and limb clinics to show the benefits.
Dr Harley Farmer, from NewGenn said These wipes came about through development with West Suffolk Hospital.
We wanted a wipe that could be used for a lot of things but I hadnt in my wildest dreams thought of someone using it on their stump.
We are absolutely thrilled that someone we hadnt really thought of when developing these products is finding benefit from them.
